Alexander Volkanovsky and Max Holloway will head the UFC 251 tournament

A rematch between the current UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovsky, and the former holder of this title, Max Holloway, will be the main event of the UFC 251 tournament, which will be held on July 11, presumably on Fight Island.

Also within the framework of the event, two more title fights will take place – Peter Jan and Jose Aldo will play the vacant UFC lightweight champion belt, and the current UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, will defend the title against his teammate Gilbert Burns. Usman was initially supposed to fight Jorge Masvidal, but the organization was unable to strike a deal with a former street fighter, so Burns, who had already announced on social networks that he was “back in training camp,” got the title chance.

About this with reference to informed sources close to the situation, said sports observer ESPN Ariel Helwani. As for the representatives of the UFC, they have not yet made statements on this matter.

Recall that last December at UFC 245 in Las Vegas, Max Holloway lost the featherweight title, losing to Alexander Volkanovsky by a unanimous decision in five rounds, and the lightweight champion belt became vacant after UFC 249 in Jacksonville Henry Sehudo held a successful defense against Dominic Cruz and announced the completion of his professional career.
