The show match between boxing legends Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr., scheduled for September 12, will take place two and a half months later.
This was announced by the sports columnist for The Athletic, Mike Coppinger.
“The show fight between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr., which was scheduled to take place on September 12 in Carson, California, has been postponed. The new tentative date for the event is November 28, “the reporter wrote on Twitter.
Sources say that the reason for the postponement of the match was the desire of the organizers to maximize profits by giving themselves more time to promote the match. The fight will be available to watch on the Triller social streaming platform with a $ 49.99 paid streaming purchase.
Also, the rules of the eight-round fight remain in question – the parties have not yet decided whether helmets will be used and a doping test will be carried out.
Roy Jones Jr., 51, last entered the ring in February 2018, defeating Scott Sigmon by unanimous decision for the WBU World Heavyweight Championship.
Mike Tyson, 54, retired from his professional career in 2005 when he was defeated by TKO against Kevin McBride.
